Recently some users reported MSI 2869 Windows 7 error. MSI error 2869 is a very common problem when installing MSI on Windows Vista. Therefore, MSI custom actions that interact with the platform and require administrator rights, such as in the form of the Content Matrix Console – Website Edition installer, will not be supported because MSI custom actions are likely to run by default.
When trying to attach an .msi file to a computer running Windows Vista as the operating system, we encounter the following awesome error message:
What is an msi file?
MSI is a derived file that refers to the database files commonly used by the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI). They contain information about the financial application divided into features and components, and each component can contain files, your computer’s Windows registry data, shortcuts, and more.
“An engineer encountered an unexpected error while extracting this package. There may be a serious problem with this package. The error code is 2869.”
This is due to the UAC (User Access Control) feature of Windows Vista.
If you are marked as administrator in Vista, you only have temporary administrator rights when running programs.
Therefore, custom MSI actions, which in turn interact with the system and require administrator rights, will not be able to be executed.
1) Copy the .MSI file to each root of your main hard drive (eg C:).
(You can put this full path to your .msi file on the system with msiexec right after /i.)
4) Replace the “Program Name” text in the copied code with the actual full name of the .MSI report.
What is MSI error?
(MSI stands for Windows Installer.) This error can occur when Windows starts normally or when multiple programs are open. This error may appear after using a registry cleaner or a registry repair tool.
Instead of saving .es .as .txt .file, replace the file tag with installer.bat.
6) It’s best to click on the file on your desktop and also run it as an administrator.
This will correctly install most .msi files for every application on the system.

I have a project in VS 2005 that is associated with a console task and an installation project that is associated with installing an application. Also, I actually have an installer class in every console app that uses the install theme to get the pre-install. These tasks actually check stringsat the database connection, as well as some directory paths to make sure they exist just before installation.
